Arizonans Weigh In On Same-Sex Marriage Ruling

In a 5-4 opinion, the U.S. Supreme Court on Friday legalized same-sex marriage across the country.

We got a few perspectives from Arizonans on the ruling, starting with Catherine Alonzo, co-chair of Equality Arizona. She said it’s a huge decision with far-reaching impact.

Critics of same-sex marriage were less excited about the ruling from the Supreme Court. Aaron Baer is vice president of communications for the Center for Arizona Policy, which described the decision as “historically tragic.”

Aaron Baer said are still some questions after this morning’s ruling. For more on those, and some of the answers, we turn to Kaiponanea Matsumura, associate professor of law at the Sandra Day O’Connor College of Law at ASU.
