Tucson voters may decide a ballot measure in November that would ban red-light cameras citywide.
The Arizona Daily Star reported organizers on Monday submitted more than 40,000 signatures in support of the initiative, three times the amount needed to get the item on the ballot. Invalidated signatures from residents outside Tucson in 2013 kept the group's measure off the ballot.
Former state lawmaker John Kromko is coordinating the effort and says volunteers were more selective about submitting signatures this year.
The city's eight red-light cameras are run by Arizona company American Traffic Solutions. Tickets are issued to red light runners and reviewed by Tucson police.
A similar ban was approved by Sierra Vista voters last year.
Revived legislation eliminating photo radar statewide failed in March.
