A flag stands on the hill in Yarnell where 19 hotshot firefighters died June 30, 2013.

The land where 19 firefighters lost their lives two years ago has been purchased, bringing to end a year-long process.

Arizona State Parks were the only bidder in the auction for the site where 19 Granite Mountain Hotshots died in the 2013 Yarnell Hill Fire. The auction marked the final step in the acquisition of 320 acres outside the small town of Yarnell.

The Arizona State Parks Board purchased the land from the State Land Department for its appraised value of just over $300,000.

The board announced Thursday they would officially name the area Granite Mountain Hotshots Memorial State Park.

Arizona State Parks has not announced any plans to develop the area.
