Tonto National Forest will lift its fire restrictions Thursday morning. This comes less than a month after the restrictions were first implemented.
Fire restrictions usually go into effect around Memorial Day and are lifted after the Fourth of July when monsoon season kicks in, but Carrie Templin with Tonto National Forest said this year was not exactly typical.
"We actually went in a little later this year than normal and we actually came out a little earlier than normal, but I’m sure our recreating public will enjoy that," Templin said.
Tonto was the only national forest to go into fire restrictions this year. Templin expects the restriction to remain lifted unless conditions change.
