Mixed Opinions On What To Do With Unexpected Funds In Arizona's Budget

The legislature’s budget analysts report Arizona has brought in $257 million more than expected so far this year. That, predictably, has led to discussions about what to do with that money.

Many Democrats want to put it into programs that’ve been cut over the past several years, such as education, while many Republicans have talked about being cautious with the cash and maybe paying down some of the state’s debt.

To sort out some of the options and the thought process to get there, we turn to Alan Maguire, an economist and President of the Phoenix-based Maguire Company.
