Opposing Views On Prop 104 That Would Extend Transit Tax

Phoenix voters will decide this summer whether to extend the city’s current four-tenths of a cent transit sales tax and increase it to seven-tenths of a cent over 35 years.

The extra money would pay for transportation projects, including roads, buses and expanding light rail.

We’re going to hear from a supporter and opponent of Prop 104 today. We start with Phoenix Councilwoman Kate Gallego. She’s the co-chair of Move PHX, the group formed in support of the measure.

If approved, the tax would take effect on New Year’s Day, 2016.

Matt Kenney, though, is working to defeat it. He’s the chairman of No on Prop 104.
