The Arizona Department of Public Safety and Homeland Security conducted dozens of early morning traffic stops yesterday at commercial truck stops in a massive human-smuggling sting.
DPS spokesman Bart Graves said they’re going after truck stops in the battle against human trafficking,
“These exploited teenagers, if you will, that are being pressed into service as prostitutes and all of that lifestyle kind of evolves around some of these truck stops, so that’s what we’re targeting,” Graves said.
Graves said DPS arrested one woman after she solicited undercover officers for sex and are investigating another, who claimed to be 18 and working as an adult entertainer. But, despite the lack of arrests the operation targeting human trafficking was worth it.
