Tempe Gets Grant To Build Housing Unit For Veterans

Tempe continuing in its plans to build a housing community dedicated to veteran and their families.

The Arizona Department of Housing confirmed the Valor of Eighth project will receive over $10 million in federal low income tax credits over the next 10 years. Tempe Vice Mayor Corey Woods said with the recent funding, they can now proceed in their plans to support a demographic the city felt was being left out.

“This was just sort of one of the things that we actually wanted to work on was actually doing an innovative housing project for veterans and her families. One of the innovations that we weren’t seeing in other places around the valley,” Woods said.

The 50-unit community will be located at Rural Road and Eighth Street, just south of University. There is no set construction date.
