What Do Current Economic Indicators Say About Consumer Confidence?

New numbers from ASU show home builders took out 45 percent more permits this April and May than the same months last year. We talked about what the report found with KJZZ’s Business Correspondent, Kristena Hansen.

How confident people feel seems to be a big part of the economy. When producers feel like things are going well, they’re likely to produce more and when consumers are confident, they tend to buy more.

Lynn Franco tracks that sort of thing. She’s the director of Economic Indicators for the Conference Board and oversees the group’s monthly consumer confidence report. The report asks people about both their current situations and their outlook for the future.
