It’s not often a state highway shares the same number as a Baseball Hall of Famer.
For three weeks, beginning Friday, drivers along State Route 51 will see two signs honoring the “Big Unit” Randy Johnson.
Johnson wore the number 51 during most of his professional career and will be inducted into the Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, N.Y., at the end of the month.
He will be the first player from the Arizona Diamondbacks to be inducted to the Hall of Fame. Johnson played for the team from 1999-2004.
