Scattered showers will be moving into the Phoenix area and higher terrain of central Arizona this weekend. One to two inches of rain is possible.
The weather system moving through the area is the result of several factors, including Hurricane Dolores, which is currently churning through the Pacific Ocean.
Chris Kuhlman, a meteorologist with the National Weather service, said the system has created an atypical monsoonal moisture pattern.
"Because of where the hurricane is, it has switched the winds out of the south bringing up a lot of moisture from Mexico," said Kuhlman.
Kuhlman said showers will be scattered this weekend, meaning some areas will see more rain than others.
