A fire burning 650 acres in the Tonto National Forest, northeast of the Valley, is under control.
Two hotshot crews and air tankers are using “desert firefighting tactics."
Officials from the Forest Service said there was little growth overnight, allowing crews to make progress early this morning.
Officials said the fire has been contained enough to allow the public back into popular areas of the park, including Forest Road Number-24 and the Bronco Trailhead. While those areas have reopened, officials are asking visitors to be mindful of fire crews still working in the area.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
