New York Man Arrested For Threatening Calls To Flagstaff Schools
The FBI has arrested and charged the man who admitted to making death threats to Flagstaff schools this past spring, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office in Arizona.
Viktor Lisnyak, 29, of New York was arrested for making numerous phone calls to Flagstaff schools between March and May. A computer-generated voice indicated he was armed, suicidal and planned to “kill the children,” according to Flagstaff police.
Each time a call was placed, those schools and their surrounding schools went into lockdown mode. And each time teachers, parents and students worried they would become victims.
Flagstaff police met with parents to answer questions and with schools to rehearse strategies. Local detectives worked with the FBI to find the caller.
Last week authorities flew to New York to arrest Lisnyak, who admitted he made the threatening calls, according to a press release from Flagstaff police. He’s scheduled to appear in federal court in Arizona on July 29.
Lisnyak faces up to 25 years in jail — five years for each count — and up to $1.25 million in fines.
