Arizona drivers will see a new fleet of 90 Department of Public Safety vehicles on highways. The cars will feature an updated color scheme that reflects the changes the department is making.
Bart Graves, DPS spokesman, said the newly appointed DPS Director Frank Milstead wants to change the department’s public persona.
“He wants everybody to know that we are going to be the state of the art, law enforcement leading police agency, in terms of a state police agency in this country. And to do that, we need to change a lot of things we’ve done before,” Graves said.
Graves said another change is their officer’s will now be referred to as “troopers." The move is to better align themselves with other departments across the country.
