6 Killed In Arizona Freeway Accidents Since Sunday

Over the span of two days, more than six people have been killed on Arizona highways.

One of those accidents was a rollover crash on Interstate 10 on Sunday evening where two people were killed. None of the passengers were wearing seatbelts, including two small children.

Bart Graves, a spokesman for the Department of Public Safety, said accidents come down to human error.

“The only way to minimize accidents, or collisions as we call them, across the state is for drivers to take control of their driving," Graves said. "Drivers kill drivers, [and] they kill the other people on the road."

Graves said the office sees an increase of accidents on state highways during the summer as more people are on the road but said it’s very rare he sees so many deadly accidents in such a short time frame.

DPS continues to investigate a crash Monday morning involving a van that rammed into a disabled semi on the Interstate 17.Graves said the department has yet to rule out driver impairment.
