Prescott firefighters are still trying to contain the Sa Hill fire after lightning ignited it near the town of Mayer on Sunday night.
The flames have spread across 800 acres and there is zero containment. Debbie Maneely with the U.S. Forest Service said Monday the rugged terrain has made containing the fire difficult.
"Right now there is a continuous grass crop that has dried out and so with today’s temperatures, as it was drier and warmer, low humidity and a little bit of wind, the acreage is going to increase because it is burning all this dry grass out there and dry shrub," Maneely said.
Maneely added the fire is in a remote area. There are no structures, roads or hiking trails being threatened by the fire, so no closures are in place.
