Tucson residents have been getting some spectacular views of a wildfire burning in the Catalina Mountains just outside the city.
The Finger Rock Fire is burning in an inaccessible location near Pontatoc Canyon and has charred about 500 acres.
The fire was started by a lightning strike July 29, but flared up Wednesday, lighting the night sky outside Tucson.
No crews are fighting the blaze, which Coronado National Forest officials are hoping will be doused by the showers predicted to hit Friday afternoon and evening.
Spokeswoman Heidi Schewel said the fire is burning brush and grass and is not threatening any structures.
Officials have closed Finger Rock Trail Number 42 because of the increase in fire activity.
