Excessive-Heat Warning Until Saturday Night For Metro Phoenix

The National Weather Service has issued an excessive-heat warning for the central deserts of Arizona — and expect the heat to be around for a while.

Weather Service meteorologists said metro Phoenix will exceed its average temperature of 105 by five to seven degrees on Thrusday. The record on this date is was set in 2012 when it hit 115 degrees.

Meteorologist Charlotte Dewey said expect the heat to last through the weekend,

“Temperatures should stay right around 110 to 112 through Sunday before they do start to trend downward by Monday. Into Tuesday, we’ll be below that 110-degree mark," said Dewey.

The excessive-heat warning is not set to expire until 8 p.m. Saturday, and we could even flirt with record temperatures. The current record high for Friday and Saturday is 113 and Sunday's record high is 112.
