2 Immigrants Rescued On Border With Help Of Rescue Beacons

Border agents report they have rescued more than 500 people in the southern Arizona desert since October of last year.

Adrienne Crowley works for the Border Patrol. She said two more were saved after locating one of 32 rescue beacons that have been placed in the desert southwest of Tucson.

“A lot of these people are not really prepared to be crossing through the desert," Crowley said. "They run out of water; they need medical help; groups will leave them behind. So, we have the rescue beacons deployed, and you can see the blue ‘light of life’ for miles."

Since last October, 46 people have died in the desert.

Crowley said the border patrol will continue to deploy the beacon technology to prevent future deaths.
