Five years ago a wildfire burned 15,000 acres of Coconino National Forest north of Flagstaff.
Employees of the Coconino National Forest have been working to rebuild their forest after an unattended camp fire started the blaze in 2010. It has an ongoing effort to rebuild the forest after the Shultz fire. Officials are now asking for volunteers to help in their next phase. Coconino Forest is planning to replant 2,000 ponderosa pines this weekend.
For those interested, orientation starts at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 29, 2015.
Planting tools will be provided by the U.S. Forest Service.
