A young man leaves Phoenix and moves back to the Gila River Reservation. Once he gets there, he tries to re-connect with old friends, but gets caught up with a tough crowd.
That’s the premise of the movie “In Circles,” which was co-directed and co-written by brothers Claude and Robert Jackson. Both are members of the Gila River Indian Community, and both have day jobs that do not involve film. The brothers grew up in south Phoenix — and I asked Claude how much the movie drew on those experiences.
There will be a screening of the film on Sunday afternoon at Vee Quiva Hotel and Casino in Laveen.
