Central Arizona Project Using Buzzfeed As An Advertising Strategy

If you read Buzzfeed, or if you’re a Millennial, you may have noticed a Buzzfeed listicle posted on social media.

It’s called “Life in Arizona: Expectations vs. Reality,” and aims to debunk some myths about living here. Among them, that everyone has a pool, that the heat causes things to burst into flames and that the Valley is drying up.

The “reality” counter to that last statement is that the Valley is “actually really good at managing its water supply.”

The article is a paid advertisement that’s part of a new marketing strategy by Salt River Project and Central Arizona Project.

Crystal Thompson works in the Communications Department at Central Arizona Project.

So, how effective will this new strategy be? To find out, we turn to Zacry Fox, the director of digital media for the Phoenix-based marketing and advertising firm LaneTerralever.
