Research: US Security Along Mexico Border Changed Immigrant Migration Patterns

International borders continue to be on the agenda as security has again become a topic in the presidential campaign. Efforts to secure the border between the United States and Mexico have changed migration patterns for some immigrants within the United States, according to new research.

The effort compared border security and where Mexican nationals live once they enter the country. Todd Pugatch, an assistant professor of economics at Oregon State University, is one of the report’s authors.
