Increased Life Expectancy Creates Challenges, Options

Life expectancy in the United States is getting longer. As of 2012, the average life span extended to 78.8 years.

That has created other challenges and options, including more palliative care and a need for additional caregivers.

Those are a couple of the topics that will be covered at this weekend’s Final Transition Conference in Tucson.

One of the presenters, Sheila Warnock, who specializes in care-giving said more people, especially baby boomers, are more willing to talk about the end of life than previous generations.

Steve Goldstein was a host at KJZZ from 1997 to 2022.
