Abortion Reversal Information Added To Arizona Health Services Website

The Arizona Department of Health Services has information on its websiteabout a so-called abortion reversal procedure.

The department is legally required to post the materials as part of a new state law that requires doctors to tell patients there is a possibility of reversing a medication abortion.

Planned Parenthood of Arizona and other women’s health organizations filed a lawsuit in June challenging the provision. The court has put that part of the law temporarily on hold.

Attorney David Brown is arguing the information on the website is misleading because it isn’t based on scientific studies.

“The concern is that the website requires physicians to tell their patients information that is certainly not true and is misleading," Brown said. "Being compelled to tell patients that violates those patients’ constitutional rights.”

The judge hasn’t yet ruled whether the website claim can be added to the lawsuit.
