Legislators Pass 153 New Immigration Laws In First Half of 2015

Legislators in 46 states passed 391 bills and resolutions related to immigration during the first half of the year — 153 of those were new laws.

That’s a 16 percent increase in the number of laws from the first half of last year.

Ann Morse worked to track this as the program director for the Immigration Policy Project at the National Conference of State Legislatures. She explained the increase.
