Workers Securing 250 Ton Rock Threatening To Break From Glen Canyon Dam

Since late last month, a not-so-secure slab of Navajo sandstone has threatened to break off the canyon wall at Glen Canyon Dam.

Since the slab is estimated to weigh 500,000 pounds, the threat has been taken seriously. Work is being done to secure it, and officials hope to lift restrictions in area early next month.

Chris Watt, a public affairs specialist for the Bureau of Reclamation explained the precarious issue.
