NAU Forestry Professor Calls For More Prescribed Burns To Curb Catastrophic Blazes

Arizona’s wildfire season was relatively light with limited destruction and damage. But northern California and Washington state have been hit hard.

Fires in eastern Washington alone burned nearly 1 million acres.

Northern Arizona University professor Pete Fule of the School of Forestry co-authored a paper called Reform Forest Fire Management. It argues that using more prescribed or managed burns could help limit catastrophic wildfires in the future.
