It may not feel like fall in Phoenix, but in Northern Arizona the weather is getting cooler and fall colors are setting in.
For those going to see the changes at Lockett Meadow in Flagstaff, they will have to get there early. For the next two weekends, starting Saturday, Oct. 3, the National Forest Service has implemented a limit on the number of cars allowed at the picturesque lookout.
Brady Smith with Coconino National Forest said only 50 cars will be allowed to park at the area at a time for the safety of visitors.
“It is a steep road, it is on the side of a cliff, and at times it’s difficult for opposing traffic to pass one another because it’s so narrow. So, we’re going to be doing that to make sure people are informed people get up and down safely,” Smith said.
Smith said the next two weekends are the most popular time for visitors. With the 50-car limit, he said rangers will be at the bottom of Forest Road 552 directing traffic and asks visitors be patient.
