Arizona ranks in the top ten nationally in the number of jobs created from start ups.
New numbers from the U.S. Census Bureau show in 2013, 2.3 percent of the jobs created in Arizona were at such companies. Other Western states were also among the national leaders that year.
Sidnee Peck, director of the Center for Entrepreneurship at the W.P. Carey School of Business at Arizona State University, explained the ranking.
