Arts in the Phoenix area have dramatically changed over the past three decades. Part of that has to do with a population that’s almost doubled from nearly 790,000 to about 1.5 million.
The new arrivals have brought their own diverse perspectives about what art is and how many offerings the Valley should have. At the early stage of that dramatic growth, the city started the Phoenix Arts and Culture Commission, which is marking its 30th anniversary this month.
Dwight Walth, Director of Grant Services and Community Initiatives for the Phoenix Office of Arts and Culture, told more about the arts.
