Arizona continues to be a very difficult place for low-income people to live, and the situation is getting worse.
According to new numbers from the U.S. Census Bureau, an estimated 21 percent of Arizonans are at or below the federal poverty line. The national rate is 14 percent—a steady figure—while the Arizona rate is on the rise.
Cynthia Zwick, executive director of the Arizona Community Action Association, explained the trend in Arizona.
