The Arizona Supreme Court heard arguments in the caseof the so called “Baseline Killer” this morning. This appeal comes four years after he was sentenced to death.

Mark Goudeau was convicted of nine murders and multiple other counts of sexual assault, kidnapping and armed robberies against 33 victims. He terrorized south Phoenix where he got his name the “Baseline Killer,” between 2005 and 2006.

After a seven-month trial, Goudeau was sentenced to death in 2011.

In this automatic appeal, his lawyers are challenging the trial court on 17 issues. Among them, whether the search of his home was legal, if the state should have been able to present certain evidence and whether the trial for all 74 crimes was too much for the jury.
