In 2014 tribal gaming operations generated about $1.6 billion in labor income in Arizona. That’s according to a new report released by the Arizona Indian Gaming Association.
Both labor income and employment levels in the industry remained relatively steady from 2013 to 2014.
"You’re looking at over 15,000 jobs directly just from tribal gaming and those are jobs that are spread throughout the state of Arizona," said Valerie Spicer, the executive director of the AIGA.
According to the report, about 33 percent of those employed by tribal gaming operations were Native American, and 67 percent were non-Native.
