ADOT: Phony Arizona Document Operation Busted

A man accused of running a phony document operation has been arrested, according to Arizona Department of Transportation officials.

Authorities said the suspect produced everything from driver’s licenses to food handler’s licenses.

Detectives with ADOT’s Fraudulent Document Unit are still sorting through almost 10 years of documents to determine how many identities were stolen by the operation.

“And a lot of those are related to where this individual obtained identities from other individuals, so that would be identity theft. Or, he literally stole the identity of others to create these fraudulent identification cards,” said Harold Sanders of ADOT.

The suspect faces 20 felony counts, including forgery and identity theft.
