Small Phoenix Record Label Produced Rockabilly Classic

In the 1950s, Phoenix was home to a small record label called MCI.

It lasted about seven years, and most of the music the label put out didn't sell especially well. But there was one song in particular that MCI was responsible for that stuck - rockabilly classic "The Fool," produced by Lee Hazlewood.

Arizona music historian, John Dixon, recently released a compilation album of some of MCI's music including "The Fool." It's called, "Martians, Demons And Fools Like Me - The MCI Records story 1954 - 1961."

EDITOR'S NOTE: This article has been modified to reflect the correct spelling on Lee Hazlewood's name.
