Utah BLM Works To Return Stolen Tribal Artifacts To Owners

About six years ago, the federal government raided a number of homes in the Four Corners region, arrested two dozen men and women and seized nearly 40,000 artifacts.

That was just the start of a saga that led to two suicides and charges against more than 20 people that included violating the federal Archaeological Resources Protection Act. The Bureau of Land Management in Utah has been in charge of studying the artifacts and working on getting them back to their proper tribal owners. Nate Thomas, deputy preservation officer for the BLM-Utah spoke about the artifacts.
