2 Phoenix-Bound Flights Struck By Lasers

The Federal Aviation Administration confirmed more than 20 aircraft at airports across the country have been hit by lasers since Wednesday. Last night, at least two Phoenix-bound flights were targeted.

A Southwest Airlines flight was about 8 miles out from Sky Harbor Airport when it was struck by a green laser at 4,000 feet. That plane landed safely and no injuries were reported. Less than two hours later, a second aircraft, operated by American Airlines was hit at 10,000 feet. It also landed at Sky Harbor without incident.

And at another airport, the pilot of another American Airlines plane from Phoenix to San Diego also reported a laser in the cockpit.

According to the FAA, since October 16, more than 5300 laser strikes have been reported across the US.
