ASU Law School Conference Looks At Safeguarding Brains

The impact of concussions in amateur and professional sports — and on members of the military returning from the battlefield — continues to make headlines. A film starring Will Smith, called Concussion, will be in wide release next month. It focuses on one doctor who discovers a disease that leads to brain trauma in football players.

Friday at the Sandra Day O’Connor U.S. Courthouse in Phoenix, ASU’s O’Connor College of Law hosted a conference called Safeguarding Brains: The Law, Science and Ethics of the Concussive Injury Epidemic.

We spoke to ASU Professor Betsy Grey, the conference’s main organizer.
