The cooler temperatures over the weekend resulted in some commuters in parts of the Valley dealing with hail Monday morning. Austin Jamison with the National Weather Service says the cold front making its way across the state caused the “ice particles” to fall on multiple parts of Mesa and along the Loop 101 in the East Valley. A sight that’s not unusual when it rains this time of year.
“When we get the colder, winter type systems - that is a possibility," Jamison said. "You don’t even need to have a full-fledged thunderstorm to produce something like that with a colder air mass.”
And as the cold front moves out, and the clouds disperse, Jamison said low temperatures in the Valley are expected to drop into the upper 30s and low 40s Tuesday.
