A hair salon in Casa Grande may soon be selling alcohol. Diva’s Hair and Nails has applied for a liquor license to serve wine and beer.
The city voted to recommend the license, and the next step is for the Arizona Department of Liquor Licenses and Control to approve the request, which must be done by Dece. 8.
Other cities in Arizona have salons that sell liquor. Lee Hill with the department said businesses must undergo training as part of the application process.
“There’s a training course that they go through that tells them all about the liquor laws, what they can and can’t do," Hill said. "(It) really it has a tremendous public safety approach to it just to make sure that they’re safe to their clients."
Hill also said that the employees have to be over 19 to serve liquor.
The salon was not available for comment, but according to an interview with the Casa Grande Dispatch, the salon owner would limit patrons to one drink.
