Senate Passes Amendment After Phoenix Sky Harbor Flight Path Changes

An amendment to require the FAA to notify the public of proposed changes and to conduct meetings on flight path changes has been unanimously passed by the U.S. Senate.

This comes after the public outcry over flight path changes at Sky Harbor.  The amendment would require the FAA to create a process to review future changes, and consult with airports to determine steps to relieve negative effects.

The measure was introduced jointly by Arizona’s two senators and tacked onto the Transportation Appropriations Bill. The bill is supposed to get a vote this week.
