Albertsons To Buy Some Arizona Stores Back From Haggen

Arizona’s grocery market is going through a kind of deja vu.

Albertsons will buy three of Haggen’s Arizona grocery stores, just months after Haggen bought them from Albertsons. The Federal Trade Commission forced that sale over concerns about competition after Albertsons and Safeway merged. Haggen announced earlier it would close all 10 of its stores here. David Livingston, a supermarket research consultant with DLJ Research spoke about the sales.
