A non-profit that provides medical care for the homeless is expanding its services to help serve people living on the streets in the Phoenix metro area.
With overnight temperatures plunging here in the Valley, Circle The City Chief Executive Brandon Clark says their doctor’s office on wheels will be traveling the city to search for homeless people in need of medical attention, who are willing to accept help.
“We really can’t even begin to ask our clients to help them in their medical healing, unless we’re also intensively trying to help them address the more holistic picture, which frequently is behavioral health and substance abuse issues,” Clark said.
The two-exam-room mobile medical unit supplements the agency’s medical respite shelter. The 50-bed facility helps homeless adults who are too ill or injured for emergency shelter or to live on the streets.
