A Tucson hospital owner is laying off 3 percent of its workforce.
Carondelet Health Network, which earlier this year switched from being a non-profit, to a for-profit company, will furlough about 100 people in its Southern Arizona Catholic hospital chain.
The company does business in Tucson as Carondelet St. Mary’s Hospital and Carondelet St. Joseph’s Hospital. The network also operates Carondelet Holy Cross Hospital in Nogales.
A company spokeswoman said the staffing changes were an effort to align the network’s cost structure with industry standards. Carondelet Health is reportedly working to help affected employees apply for new positions in the system and connect them to other potential employers.
