Arizona To Vote In 2016 On Ducey 's Proposal To Help Fund K-12 Education

Earlier this year, Governor Doug Ducey proposed that Arizona begin making up for funding shortfalls in K-12 education by accessing the state land trust in a different, deeper way.

Critics said those changes won’t make much of a dent. Supporters said Ducey has done something important without raising taxes. Legislative approval has sent the proposal—now known as Proposition 123—to voters, who will decide its fate in May 2016.

Attorney Grady Gammage, who co-wrote a related report for the Morrison Institute, discussed the history and impact of the state land trust.
