Phoenix Public Library Looks To Increase Digital Services

There are 17 libraries in the Phoenix Public Library system, and now librarians and staff are looking to improve their digital skills.

The library is applying for consideration for a grant funding digital training for the library staff. This would be part of the library's "Digital Fluency" pilot project. Digital training would make sure that staff across all branches would be able to serve the Valley’s 900,000 cardholders.

"We have heard from our community that they turn to libraries to figure things out all the time," said Lee Franklin, with the Phoenix Public Library.  "You know, for assistance for that, access to information, empowerment through knowledge, a place to discover, and a place to seek lifelong learning."

The grant is from The Institute of Museum and Library Services. The library will find out this month if they can move forward in the application process.
