Economic Development Projects Boom On Arizona Tribal Land

The Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community will be home to the first master-planned auto mall on tribal land in the country, when the $60 million project opens in 2017.

The community will also welcome an aquarium next year. It already includes the spring training home of the Diamondbacks and Rockies, as well as a shopping center and other developments. Blessing Mcanlis Vasquez, marketing manager for the Talking Stick Cultural and Entertainment Destination Area and Stacey Gubser, director of the tribe’s Community Development Department, spoke about the development.
