The Tonto Apache reservation in eastern Arizona has more than quadrupled in size. The additional land was signed into trust for the tribe on Monday.
The Tonto Apache reservation now spans more than 375 acres in Gila County, growing from the original 85 acres the tribe was issued when it gained federal recognition in 1972.
The new land is adjacent to the existing reservation. It was acquired through a land exchange with the U.S. Forest Service in 2010.
According to 2010 census data, the tribe has about 120 members.
