Valley Metro To Offer Free Rides On New Years Eve

According to the Arizona Governor’s Office of Highway Safety, more than 23,000 DUI arrests were made in Arizona in 2014.

Valley Metro wants those welcoming 2016 to find a way home without worrying about drinking and driving. Ann Glasser with Valley Metro said free bus and light rail services will be available starting New Year’s Eve at 7 p.m.

“Light rail service will be expanded on New Year’s Eve until 2 a.m. So, that’s to support New Years Eve festivities around the Valley. And, most notably, the New Year's Eve block party on Mill Avenue,” she said.

Glasser said more than 60,000 people have used the free ride service since it was first offered in 2013.
